Sportwall International Teams With
YMCA to Boost Kids' Fitness
"Put Play In Your Day" Attracts 500+ Youngsters
and Parents
Huntington Beach, CA, April 5, 2005 - Sportwall
International, manufacturers and distributors of the
Sportwall Training Stations interactive playgrounds
that promote fitness and teach hand eye coordination
for children, helped more than 500 Orange County youngsters
celebrate the West County YMCA's Healthy Kids Day on
April 2, 2005 at the Huntington Beach Home Depot.
Sportwall co-sponsored similar YMCA events in Winter
Park FL, Dallas TX and Portland OR and will sponsor
another Healthy Kids Day event on April 16 in Hampton
Roads, VA. Other Healthy Kids Day sponsors include Tropicana
Inc., Kimberly-Clark Corporation, the Disney Channel
and Home Depot.
The Sportwall Training Stations are the perfect
products to complement the YMCA's emphasis on children's
physical fitness because they provide a motivating,
fun and interactive way to exercise. The system consists
of four stations with light sensors located all over
the 8' high by 4' wide stations. The stations are run
by a central computer loaded with preprogrammed games
designed to get kids moving both individually, or, in
teams. Players hit the targets on the station with balls,
noodles, batons, bean bags or their hands. A unique
feature of the scoring system is that regardless of
the skill level, everyone is able to score.
"With Sportwall, everyone is a winner, and we
are proud to partner with the YMCA to promote children's
fitness," says Ken Lucas, Sportwall managing director.
"Nine million Y members nationwide are under age
18, and no other organization is better positioned to
engage kids and families in fun and healthy physical
activities than America's YMCAs," said Lucas.
According to Lucas, Sportwall International is developing
a continuing education program for the American Council
on Exercise's Operation FitKids, finalizing a preferred
vendor relationship with Gold's Gym International and
has installations in other popular fitness centers including
ClubOne, GoodLife, David Lloyd's Fitness and WellBridge.
Upcoming Sportwall installations will include Spectrum
Clubs, LifeTime Fitness, Lifestyle Fitness and LA Fitness.
Sportwall International was recently awarded a General
Services Administration contract and will sponsor the
2006 Maccabi Games with the Jewish Community Centers
in Scottsdale, AZ. Sportwall will be on display April
14-15 in the Cybex booth at the 2005 YMCA USA National
Expo in Orlando, FL.
